The Friends of Strode Theatre
Run as a separate registered charity, The Friends of Strode Theatre aims to create an enthusiastic core of supporters who love the Theatre, are keen to help keep its vitality and diversity alive and enjoy meeting others who feel the same way.
The Friends of Strode Theatre was launched in March 2006, and now has a membership of just under 300, who enjoy one week of priority booking, as well as a number of special events throughout the year.
To join the "Friends", we invite donations from just £15 per year for one, or £25 per year for two people at the same address.
Adopt A Seat
We have been listening to your comments on the Strode Theatre seating over the past few years and we are pleased to tell you that we now have the plans in place to offer you more legroom, greater comfort and better sightlines. We started work on pricing up new seats and developing a new seating layout in the early part of last summer.
The Theatre Board of Management agreed that new seating should be its priority for the coming year and the Trustees of The Friends of Strode Theatre have adopted the project for its first fundraising initiative.
The majority of the fundraising, through charitable foundations, local authority and business support, has been so successful that we are now able to confirm the project for this coming August (2007) and we have now confirmed the new seating layout. Three companies are also working on our requirements for a seat that combines comfort with durability and we will soon have some sample seats for you to try when you visit Strode Theatre.
The total cost of the project is over £80,000 and we are still busily working on raising the last £8,000. We are hoping that you might be able to help us. The Friends of Strode Theatre invite you to “Adopt A Seat” of your choice for a donation of £125 for one seat and £200 for two seats which includes the installation of a plaque with your name or a name of your choice.
The plaque will remain on the seat for its entire life at Strode Theatre. As the Friends is a registered charity it is also possible for The Friends to reclaim the tax on donations under the Gift Aid scheme, helping us reach the target more easily.
